A shattering moment
Biography stills and stiffens
The world strangely expands
The hero shrivels, becomes tiny
Everything is distant
Nothing is near
The landscape mocks all striving,
Assumes an alien sentience
Now your only companion
Awaits with infinite patience
For you to learn its speaking
This is a trial, human
Of devastating import
Can you wake to know this
Realtime?
Or must so singular an instant
In thy fragmented life
Pass into less than lucid memory
The way vapors seem not there
When you force a second glance
The way smiles of love
Tempt us as imaginary
The way your path to godliness
Conceals itself in circumstance
The way wanting to kiss
Was brooded upon and measured.

Image : Lovely, moody still from a Youtube music video; I know not who painted it. I composed this short piece while listening to the video’s peregrinating piano music and drifting into the image…

Far out (I listened to the song, but not for the whole hour). I admire what you have done with this piece π
Kind thanks, Bree. Yeah I only listened to first 20 minutes or so, that’s about how long it took to write down. Next day I touched it up, added a word or two, no soundtrack π Something about the combo of image and soundscape pulled me in for awhile there.
Wonderful! I love the last lines. Itβs fun to allow music to inspire usβit translates beautifully here.
Glad to hear it… yeah I liked those lines too. Thanks.
Bravo! ππ»
Merci, Michele π
how nice to enter some of your ruminations. Ty for allowing us to read one short moment of your day. A lot to ponder and explore here. — I think like this, too — with two many conflicting emotions. Especially had to wonder if we think too much because we have too many hangups.
Merci. If I’m getting your comment rightly, I was imagining the walking figure more in a dazed state with an opportunity to suddenly awaken to new level of seeing because of some shock. Hard to put in words… something like that. π
oh my dear, what is the shock? You were in shock or I imagined you were in shock? lol π — in my world, there is frequent daze and dizziness. Forgive me if i misinterpret. π — dont even try to understand my foggy world. It’s kinda cruel and corrupt at times. Other times it’s sweet and nostalgic. I try to control my impulses by not allowing you to see the worst ones. — And maybe i shouldnt even attempt to understand yours. But, thank u for letting us a glimpse into YOURS. — ~
mil gracias.
π I think I have a higher opinion of your inner world than you do. Which is how things should be, I suppose. We should all be more sober about our own soul life while others strive to see the divine in us.
About the shock — I do not know what it was, it is less important. It is the state which results from it that I was after. It is not as though it is 100% biographical or anything. I mean that is what poetry is, right? A synthesizing of fragments observed from our own and other souls to kind of paint an image that is more accurate or revealing than mere history or actuality can be. No? That is how I look at it and try to do it, mostly. There are always biographical elements though, else it is fantasy. Thanks so much for your thinking!
