Dusk’s elusive pink
The way her heart dreamt in me
Wish dissolves logic
Such rainbows remain unclasped
Time bargains for my Eros

[ Image: Detail from 2018 painting by “Hanartist” titled Saudade. Saudade is a more or less untranslateable Portuguese word involving a poignant trenchant mixture of longing and loss and the depth so engendered. There is a gorgeous music around it called Fado singing which can be heard in certain nightclubs in Porto and Lisbon. ]
Notes: this piece is in a Japanese tanka form, externally: 5 7 5 7 7 syllables per line.
