when she gave me the bad news
almost
for my part
I admired her meticulous care
choosing the words for the wordless

and for her part
she needed a sudden interrupt
awed despite the cliff edge
at the shine of my stoic
“You are sooo strong”

and in that brief eternal interude
we each one glimpsed
almost
something outside space, time, or motive
ablaze from our futures and pasts
