acorns everywhere around us
yellow-red fallen ex-leaves
the woodland just becoming nude
crows monitor us not too far off
windy grey scant autumn heat
(save what still flashed inside our wanton)
remember that afternoon?
when I lifted your skirt
against the bark of that giant old maple

now it’s more than seven years, love
no single molecule of either anatomy remains
so assures us Professor All-Is-Dust
yet we know different, ne c’est pas?
one fervent atom of mine
one alluring particle from you
adhered in a compound, eternal tryst
now they’ve journeyed past Jupiter
clasped tight in love’s bond
their electron shells glimmering
stunning Calisto and far Enceladus
with an irrepressible romantic sheen

[ Note : astronomy pioneers have given such beautiful unscientific names to found Jupiter and Saturn moons over the years, mostly taken from classic mythology: Io, Iapetus, Ganymede, Enceladus, Himalia, Amalthea, Mimas, Calisto, Tethys, Rhea… ]
