a kiss, like yesterday’s
she softens, lingers more
removes one further veil
guarding against unkempt joy
she lets me have more
her face, neck, alive chest
senses I love the prelims
till not able to refrain
she pushes my head down
a gentle asking but insistent
down down past lovely torso
she wants my tongue within
it resembles commandment
do — because I am woman
but I can feel the asking
the hoping, needing, plead
I only ask one thing, sweet
tousle my hair — during
and please please
place your hand in mine — during
that we make a loving circuit
of giving taking giving

[ Note : Apropo of nothing in particular, about thirty years ago, I was walking up a hill on a summer morning on the Greek island of Alonnisos. With a companion, enroute to attending a homeopathy seminar. Suddenly I was consumed by an impossible fragrance in the early sunlight. A green and violet bush of cascading passion flowers were spilling over a nearby rock wall, and I could do nothing but freeze and stare rapt in disbelief, taking in the magnitude of the visual and nasal 🙂 sensory assault. Many homeopathic remedies are made from plants — roots, leaves, flowers and buds. I wonder to this day what a homeopathic passion flower would cure. ]
