Notes: Since relocating to Quebec these blue lupines have become one of my favorite wildflowers, offering themselves up to their sun god in erotic multitudes of devotion on hillsides along the freeways. But I am told they proliferate all the way down to Texas and in the uplands of California. And even in wild Iceland, as this staggering photo from Colin Watts attests.

thanks so much mon ami… I never saw these flowers much in the US either. I guess uncommon where I lived. But up here there are whole clumps of them.

I haven’t seen blue lupines either, but you paint a beautiful picture with your words. They remind me purple wild flowers we find here in France. They’re my favorite flowers to come across during a walk in April ❤

Meine Mutter pflanzte Lupinen im Garten; weiß, rosa und lilablütige. Ich mochte sie schon als kleines Mädchen sehr (mag sie natürlich noch immer, wenngleich auch einige Arten invasive Neophyten), erinnere mich gerne daran, wie ich sie immer bestaunte in ihrer buschigen Göße und intensiven Farbenpracht. 😉
